Equal-Treatment Listing Policy
Last updated Jul 23, 2026 (साउन ७, २०८३)
Every home listed on Sahayogi must be open to every seeker. This page explains what that means for the listings you post — what is never allowed, what is perfectly fine, and how we enforce it.
Our commitment
Housing discrimination — by caste, ethnicity, religion, gender, marital status, or disability — hurts real people and closes doors that should be open. Sahayogi is built so that finding a home depends on the home, not on who you are.
This is a condition of listing on Sahayogi: every listing must treat all seekers equally.
What is not allowed in a listing
A listing may not exclude, discourage, or single out seekers by caste or surname (for example “no Dalit”, or excluding specific caste surnames), by ethnicity or religion, by gender or marital status (for example “no single women”, “no widows”), or by disability.
This applies in every language — Nepali, English, or any other — and in every part of the listing: the title, description, terms and conditions, unit names, and amenity notes.
What is perfectly fine
Honest facts about the property and tenancy are always welcome: the category of the space (room, flat, shutter), genuine capacity limits, the rent and advance, house rules that apply to everyone, and accommodation genuinely operated for a specific group — such as a women-only hostel — described as what it is.
A simple test: describe the home and its rules, not the kind of person you will or won’t rent to.
How we enforce this
Listings are screened automatically for discriminatory wording in Nepali and English, and anything the screen flags goes to a human moderator — a flag alone never removes a listing, and it never blocks you from saving.
A listing that violates this policy will be asked to change or be unpublished. Repeated violations affect your account standing on Sahayogi and can lead to removal.
See something? Report it
If you find a listing that excludes people, use the Report action on the listing page. Every report is reviewed by our team, and you’ll be notified of the outcome.
